We have been helping the homeless in Visalia Ca. since 2007. When I came back to the Lord like the prodigal son he embraced me gave the ring and a burning desire to help homeless. It started helping Jeff who's picture is on the home page. We kept seeing him sleeping in the grass outside a McDonald's. We would go there to eat and I always had to do something for him. It did not matter to him. Sometimes I would give him the rest of my drink or half eaten food. Jeff was happy to have anything. He had Diabetes, Alcoholism, Arthritis, Heart problems, Blood pressure problems. I knew him almost a year and during that time he delighted me. He was taken to the hospital three times during that time. We started talking and I found he was honorably discharged from the US Army. Well then I called the VA made an appointment for him in Fresno CA VA because of all his ailments. I gave him a big hug and said goodbye. Thinking that was the last I would see of him because anyone that sick surely would be taken care of by the VA. Guess what after three or four days they brought him back on the bus and left him at McDonald's parking lot with a garbage bag of medications. Why ? A man living on the streets with no address left on the streets with a bag of pills and a new cane. Needless to say someone stole his pills and his new cane and now he is back to square one. At that moment I decided that at the direction of the Lord Jesus Christ and His help I will do all I can to help these people. Many would say " Its their own fault they are too lazy to work", or "they are just drunks and never will be anything else'. You could not be more wrong. They are souls, loved by God. So I guess our mission is to show honor to God
Proverbs 14:31
He who oppresses the
poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God
